A Grand Forks man pleaded guilty Tuesday for sexually assaulting a child last fall at an apple orchard.
Dwight Colin Moses, 73, could spend up to 25 years in prison on the second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge.
Investigators said Moses invited a child younger than age 10 with family to pick apples at an East Grand Forks orchard Sept. 29. Moses, who reportedly owns a tree service, drove a vehicle that has a bucket and insisted the child go up in the bucket with him, an affidavit said.
The child’s mother said the child seemed “unhappy and confused” in the bucket and it didn’t seem like Moses or the child was picking apples, according to the court document.
The mother took the child to Altru Hospital after the child confided that Moses had been inappropriately touching in the bucket, the affidavit said.
Moses is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 1.
