After nine-week manhunt arrest made in Minot homicide
MINOT, N.D. -- Minot police say after a nine-week manhunt. a man wanted in connection with the death of a Minot man was taken into custody in Philadelphia early Thursday.
Anthony Leon Campbell, 37, was arrested and charged with AA felony murder for allegedly killing Shannon Royal Brunelle, 25, who police found dead Sept. 16 in a garage at a complex in the 1600 block of 12th Street N.W. in Minot.
Police believe the two men were acquaintances.
Sgt. Steve Goodman said after Brunelle was killed, Campbell fled to Philadelphia where he was arrested “without incident.”
With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service District of North Dakota and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Campbell’s movements were tracked across the country.
“We tracked him through his Internet usage,” Goodman said.
He said family members and friends of Campbell’s also provided information to law enforcement.
Campbell also has an outstanding warrant in Ward County for burglary, a class B felony,
unrelated to the murder charge.
Campbell is being held in Philadelphia, pending extradition back to Minot.
