An Arvilla man pointed a pistol at another car on U.S. Highway 2 on Wednesday night, a press release from the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office said.
Three people were westbound on Highway 2 when Roman Schmidt, 31, pulled up alongside them and pointed a pistol at their vehicle at 8:43 p.m., according to the release. Schmidt reportedly tailgated and followed the car for numerous miles and turns before stopping on a private road and hiding in the woods.
Deputies were able to make contact with Schmidt and convinced him to surrender, the release said. He was carrying a loaded pistol, according to deputies.
Schmidt is facing charges of terrorizing and carrying a concealed weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
