Police are searching for a man they say tried to rob a cab driver early Wednesday morning.
The Grand Forks Taxi driver was called to the 500 block of Oak Street at 4:35 a.m. to pick up a customer, but was hit in the face with a large-caliber revolver by the man who got into his car, a press release said. The driver began to drive away while the man was still partially in the vehicle, according to police. The suspect did not get any cash but ran east, the release said.
Officers tried to track the man using a K9, but his track was lost in a nearby alley and he could not be found, according to the release.
Police are still searching for the suspect, who they described as a black man of medium build, about 6 foot 3 inches, potentially had short dreadlocks and was wearing black clothing.
Anyone with information can call police at (701) 787-8000.
The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office assisted the investigation.
