A man was arrested after police say he drove through University Park early Friday morning while attempting to flee from officers following a traffic stop.
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with expired registration around 1 a.m. Friday. The driver, 31-year-old Joshua Grandbois, attempted to flee after the stop began, according to a press release from the Grand Forks Police Department.
The pursuit began on the 1200 block of University Avenue and continued westbound on Fourth Avenue North, when Grandbois drove through University Park, according to police. The vehicle's tires became deflated after running over several rocks. Grandnois then fled on foot. The speeds of the pursuit were moderate, the release said.
A perimeter was quickly established and a K9 track was initiated from the 2300 block of University Avenue.
Grandbois was arrested in a nearby alleyway without further incident for fleeing in a motor vehicle, fleeing (other than the driver of a motor vehicle), driving under suspension, reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and failure to appear warrant for Child Support. Citations were issued for failing to display current tabs and no liability insurance.
