A Cavalier day care provider is facing a felony charge after deputies said they found a young child she was supposed to be caring for walking alone on a bike path.

Susan Jean Svenson could spend up to five years in prison if she’s convicted of child neglect.

Deputies were called because a 2-year-old girl was crying and walking alone on a bike path about a fifth of a mile from Svenson’s home on June 17, a criminal complaint said. Svenson was a day care provider for the girl.

Svenson is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
