Two people were taken to Altru Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after their all-terrain vehicle struck a deer outside Thompson, N.D., Tuesday afternoon, May 25.
According to a release from North Dakota Highway Patrol, Michael Lundeen, 28, of Grand Forks, was driving a 2011 Yamaha ATV on Ninth Avenue Northeast near 15th Street Northeast about 2.5 miles outside Thompson around 12:40 p.m. when a deer ran across the highway, striking the vehicle's east side.
The ATV overturned and both Lundeen and his passenger, 29-year-old Tammy Loretto of Thompson, were ejected from the vehicle. Neither were wearing helmets, according to the release.
According to NDHP, road and weather conditions were good, and no charges have been filed in the crash. The collision remains under investigation by NDHP.
In addition to NDHP, the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office, Thompson Fire and Rescue and Altru Ambulance also responded to the call.
