A Manvel woman has died of her injuries days after a two-vehicle crash in Grand Forks.

Ruth Berntson, 71, died Saturday, Sept. 19, according to a release from the Grand Forks Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of an accident with injuries at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday at South 31st Street and 32nd Avenue South, according to a release from the Grand Forks Police Department.

Police stated that a 2019 Ford pickup had been traveling west on 32nd Avenue South in the inside westbound lane pulling a trailer at the same time that a 2019 Honda CRV, driven by Berntson, was turning left from 32nd Avenue onto 31st Street just south of Columbia Mall. The front of the pickup hit the front of the Honda, causing extensive damage and disabling both vehicles, according to police.

The driver of the pickup, a 39-year-old Buxton man, had no apparent injuries. Berntson was taken to Altru Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

According to police, the Honda appeared to have failed to yield the right of way when turning left at an intersection. No charges have been filed against the driver of the pickup, and police don't expect any to be filed, according to the release.
