A 10-year-old boy was killed after the off-highway vehicle he was driving left the roadway near Mountain, N.D., Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The boy, whose name has not been released, was driving the 2014 Polaris Ranger side-by-side, off-highway vehicle west on 87th Street Northeast approximately half a mile south of Mountain, N.D., when the left sidewheels left the roadway, according to the report. The vehicle tipped onto its driver's side. The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. Monday.
The child was ejected and died at the scene, the release stated. The release said neither seat belt nor a helmet in use at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Mountain, N.D., is located approximately 85 miles northwest of Grand Forks and is located in Pembina County.
