Norman County crash sends 3-year-old to hospital with life-threatening injuries

NORMAN COUNTY, Minn. — A 3-year-old girl was brought to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash in Norman County.

A Dodge Caravan was driving south on Highway 9 when it was hit head-on by a by a Cadillac Deville headed north in the southbound lane at around noon Friday, March 15, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Four passengers in the minivan driven by Elvira Castillo, 28, of Ada, including three other young children, were taken to Essentia Health-Ada with minor injuries. The 3-year-old was transported to an unnamed Fargo hospital.

Craig Garding, 44, of Freeport, who was driving the Cadillac, was also brought to Essentia Health-Ada.

All involved were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol incident report.
