MENTOR, Minn. - No one was injured Friday afternoon when a train struck a semi in Polk County.
The Minnesota State Patrol and Polk County Sheriff's Office responded at 5:15 p.m. Friday to a report of property damage related to the crash that happened on U.S. Highway 2 about 3 miles east of Mentor at 190th Avenue Southeast, according to a news release. The semi, driven by David Toman, 61, of Grand Forks, attempted to cross the railroad tracks when the trailer was hit by a BNSF train, the release said.
"Nobody was injured in the crash," the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. "There was extensive damage to the trailer" of the semi.
Toman, who was waiting to turn onto Highway 2, was cited for failing to stop at a railroad crossing.
