Boy suffers minor injuries after being struck by vehicle

A juvenile male suffered injuries that were not life threatening after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on 32nd Avenue South Wednesday afternoon.

The Grand Forks Police Department was dispatched around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of 32nd Avenue South and South 20th Street for a report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian.

Police say an initial investigation revealed that a 2018 Chevy Suburban driven by Tiffany Noreikis, 26, of Warren, Minn., was travelling westbound on 32nd Avenue South. She was approaching the crosswalk near South 20th Street and 32nd Avenue South when she struck the juvenile male who was riding his bike northbound in the crosswalk.

Police said investigations show that Noreikis had the right of way, a green light, at the time of the crash and the bicycle crossed against the do not walk signal.

The child was transported to Altru hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. No other

injuries or property damage were reported. The accident is currently under investigation.

The age of the child was not immediately available.
