Investigation continues after northwest Minnesota woman dies in ATV crash

BEMIDJI, Minn.  -- A crash remains under investigation Wednesday, July 11, after a northwest Minnesota woman was killed in an ATV crash Monday morning.

Beltrami County 911 received a report of an overturned ATV at 8:20 a.m. Monday, according to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred approximately nine miles northwest of Bemidji.

Beltrami County deputies and a Minnesota State Trooper arrived on the scene within minutes of the call and determined that a woman operator was killed at the scene, the release said. The woman was identified as Rosalee R. Miles, 42 of Shevlin. The preliminary investigation shows the 2007 Arctic Cat 650 ATV was traveling north on Nature Road when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch, striking a barbed wire fence, and then overturning in the field next to the road. Miles was not wearing a helmet, the release said.

The crash remains under investigation with the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and Beltrami County Coroner’s Office.
