A 31-year-old St. Paul woman died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 61 near Brighton Beach in Duluth.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Courtney Ryan was a passenger in a 2003 Buick Century that was traveling south on Highway 61, approaching Brighton Beach Boulevard, when the vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by a northbound 2013 Lexus RX350 SUV.

Ryan was transported to St. Luke's hospital, where she died from her injuries, the Patrol reported. The driver of the Century, 31-year-old Jacob Ryan of St. Paul, was transported to St. Luke's with what the Patrol said were non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Lexus, 42-year-old Aubrey Danielson of Duluth, was taken to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center with what the Patrol said were non-life-threatening injuries.

Road conditions were icy at the time of the crash, the Patrol said. All of those involved were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not involved in the crash.
