RYDER, N.D. — A 23-year-old was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle as the Minot man was trying to chase down a dog that left his vehicle.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a van was parked along the shoulder of Highway 28 around 10:30 Thursday night, June 13 about three miles south of Ryder. The dog got loose and ran west crossing the southbound lane. The man gave chase in the rain and was struck.

Mariah Wolf, 23, of New Town, was driving the approaching 2012 Buick Enclave and was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.

Ryder is about 40 miles southwest of Minot.
