A North Dakota teenager died early Saturday, April 24, after a rifle he was attempting to retrieve from his vehicle discharged and hit him in the abdomen, according to a press release from the Towner County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to an emergency call at 12:06 a.m. Saturday in Cando, N.D., for a call of a potential assault.
During the investigation, it was determined that it was an accidental shooting. The release said 15-year-old Logan Corday was attempting to retrieve a rifle from the trunk of his car when it discharged, hitting him once in the abdomen, according to the release. Deputies attempted first aid measures, but Corday did not survive.
Corday was a freshman at NorthStar Public School in Cando.
