2. Mountain, N.D., Post Office appears close to finding a permanent home

The Mountain Community Center may become a permanent site for the town’s post office.

The post office temporarily relocated to the community center last winter after the U.S. Postal Service identified problems with the building where it had been housed.

3. UND foundation sets another fundraising record, raises more than $80M

For a second year in a row, UND has set a fundraising record.

The university’s foundation announced Tuesday, Aug. 11, that fundraising topped $80 million in the past year.

4. East Grand Forks Schools plan draft: in-person learning for elementary, hybrid learning for middle and high school

The East Grand Forks School District plans to return to school this fall have not yet been finalized, but at Monday night's school board meeting, what the upcoming semester will look like began to take shape.

A draft presented at that meeting outlined a plan to send students aged Pre-K through Grade 5 to in-person classes full-time, while students in grades 6-12 would attend in-person classes every other day on alternating A and B days.

5. Three people test positive for COVID-19 in Grand Forks jail

One person incarcerated in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Two correctional officers employed at the jail also tested positive.

The inmate, who tested positive on Aug. 7, is the second incarcerated person to test positive for the virus in GFCCC since the beginning of the pandemic.
