CANDO, N.D. — Authorities have located the body of a 55-year-old Walsh County man who was reported missing Sunday night, Nov. 24, according to Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens.
Michael Eidenschink left his Park River house around noon Sunday and was believed to be hunting or fishing in the Fordville area, the sheriff's office said in a Monday Facebook post. At around 4 p.m., the sheriff's office got a call from police near Cando, reporting they had found Eidenschink's body.
Jurgens said Cando, about 75 miles west Fordville, wasn't an area authorities considered in their search.
Search efforts involved the sheriff's department, a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter and a private airplane, which spent much of the day flying over the area of Highway 32 looking for Eidenschink's pickup. There was fear, at one point, he may have gone through the ice, Jurgens said.
Authorities said foul play is not suspected at this time. The cause of death will be determined during an autopsy that will likely take place on Tuesday.
