GRAND FORKS — Dak-Minn blood bank's supply of Type O blood is critically low.
They say donations have been lower than in the past but transfusions have increased at Altru Hospital.
Type O blood is the most common blood type used in transfusions.
They're hoping at least 60 people will come to give blood as soon as possible.
Any donations given will stay in the community.
"Our (Type) O stock has been depleted pretty low," said Monica Janssen, donor relation coordinator at Dak-Minn Blood Bank. "So we're in a shortage of it. Our (Type) B is starting to get low too.
Janssen says the blood bank needs both Type O and B donors.
DakMinn will be closed this weekend but they will be open at 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.
