About one-third of Red River High School was without power beginning at about 1:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.
Red River High School made accommodations for students and teachers to be in the areas of the school with electricity, Principal Kris Arason said in a message to families.
In addition to the school, 295 other customers were impacted by the power outage, which was caused by a “cable fault,” said Judi Paukert, community relations manager with Xcel Energy, Grand Forks.
“Crews were on site since the outage started and are still on site,” Paukert said late Monday afternoon.
The Columbia Heights Trailer Park was most affected by the outage, she said, and “a few small residential areas surrounding it” were also impacted.
As of press time, some customers had power restored, but some were still out, she said.
Crews were continuing to work on identifying and fixing the problem.
Also, phone lines were down at the school, so calls made to the school during that time did not go through, Arason said.
