A Grand Forks man is facing charges for assault and child neglect after he punched a woman and grabbed her by her hair while an infant was in the room.
J.L. Hunt Hugghis, 21, could face up to five years in prison for each charge, if convicted.
Court records said Hugghis began arguing with a woman he knew about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair and "swung her around like a rag doll," court documents said.
The woman curled onto the bed in a fetal position and Hugghis allegedly held her face down into the bed so she couldn't breathe, court documents said. He allegedly then punched her in the back of the head twice.
The woman's baby was on sitting in a carseat on the edge of the bed while she was being assaulted, court records said.
