THIEF RIVER FALLS -- An 80-year-old man who went missing Tuesday morning was found dead on his own property, police said.
Orvin Richard Sund was found deceased on his own property Tuesday night at 10:32 p.m., according to the Thief River Falls Police Department. He appeared to die of natural causes.
Sund was reported missing about 11 a.m. Tuesday from his residence in the 400 block of Conley Avenue South. He was seen by someone on the outskirts of Thief River Falls about 4 p.m.
Police told Thief River Falls Radio that Sund was fond of walking outdoors, and that the department had been called three times previously to try to locate him.
The radio station reported Sund had been found in an outbuilding on his property.
The department called for volunteers to help search for Sund about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Facebook. Police said a large number of people turned out to help look.
After Sund had been located, Chief Dick Wittenberg took to Facebook to thank the community.
“I want to take the time to thank everyone that came out to help search for Orvin,” he wrote. “It's amazing when a family is in need, this community pulls together to rally around them.”
