Grand Forks beer is soon making its way out of the Red River Valley and into Twin Cities taprooms and stores.
Matt Winjum, a co-owner of Rhombus Guys Brewery, said the company is partnering with distributor J.J. Taylor beginning Jan. 30 to distribute its product in a coverage area stretching from St. Cloud to Mankato to Minnesota's eastern border.
"It's huge," Winjum said. "We wanted to get down to that market, because we know there's a lot of back-and-forth between up here and down there."
Winjum estimates that the deal will boost sales by the equivalent of about 6,000 cases of beer-that's roughly 13,500 gallons worth-each year. That means about $75,000 in additional income for the business.
Winjum said he's excited about the new partnership.
"There are a lot of people down there who have ties to that area, so our name is recognizable, and it is the largest market in our area," he said.
