UND, NDSU research bill fails in the House

Dane Ferguson named executive director for ND Republicans

Dane J. Ferguson, a Grafton, N.D., native and Grand Forks business owner, will soon be taking on the role of executive director of the North Dakota Republican Party.

Before being hired for the directorship, Ferguson was the chairman of the District 18 Republicans. Ferguson is also the owner and executive manager of Ferguson Books & More in Grand Forks and is a member of the Grand Forks School Board. He also serves the Grand Forks area Chamber of Commerce as chairman of its government affairs committee.

Ferguson, a 2008 graduate of Concordia College, has been involved with the North Dakota Republicans since an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the Legislature in 2012.

A Friday release from the North Dakota Republicans stated Ferguson's experience as a district chair "will allow him to hit the ground running."

According to the release, Ferguson will work to further the party's focus on recruiting candidates as well as targeting political messaging in specific districts and continuing a "strong and aggressive" approach to fundraising.

He will replace Roz Leighton in the role as executive director. Leighton was hired to the position in July 2015 but resigned to help usher in President-elect Donald Trump by joining the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee as Cabinet affairs liaison.
