LEEDS, N.D.-A 55-year-old man who was found dead Saturday on railroad tracks in Leeds died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, investigators said Wednesday.
Multiple agencies responded at 11:35 a.m. Saturday to a report of a train hitting a pedestrian in Leeds, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in a news release. Investigators determined Scott Craig Nelson of Leeds had died on the railroad tracks not because he was hit by a train but from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officers said.
No foul play is suspected in the death and there is no danger to the public, the Highway Patrol said.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Benson County Sheriff's Department and Benson County Coroner also responded to the scene.
