FLOODWOOD, Minn. -- One person died and another was injured in a collision between a pickup and a Minnesota Department of Transportation plow truck Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 2 near Floodwood.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Winston Lahti, 19, of Brookston died when the truck he was driving east on Highway 2 crossed the center line and hit a westbound snowplow head-on just before 10 p.m.
The pickup then rolled on its side and came to rest on the south shoulder, the Patrol reported. The crash happened about 5 miles east of Floodwood.
The driver of the plow truck, Kimberly Bergstrom, 47, of Duluth, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with what the Patrol called non-life-threatening injuries.
Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, the Patrol reported. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
