On April 17, 2020 Bud Loe of McVille, ND turned 85. He was expecting a quiet day at home due to the Covid-19. Family and friends saw it differently and agreed a drive by parade would be fun. The parade consisted of three police cars, a fire truck, an ambulance, all with sirens and flashing red lights, a motorcycle, a maintainer (like one with which he groomed county roads for 25 years) and as many cars and trucks as one can imagine. They appeared from McVille, Cooperstown, Warwick, Tolna, Pekin and the surrounding areas. Some as far as 40 miles away! There were posters with birthday wishes, streamers, balloons and horns, cheering, waving and smiling faces.
Bud stood by his home (social distancing), smiling and waving. Birthday wishes on posters gave him the clue. Yes, Bud all this noise and fuss was for you! Your family and friends all love you so dearly. Take care of yourself and we’ll celebrate yearly!
