Whether or not she’s interested in fashion, Mickayla Zinsli, of Grand Forks, knows how to style an outfit.
For a laidback day at work, Zinsli wore a button-up shirt under a gray sweater. She paired the tops with blue jeans and light brown boots. A beautiful mint statement necklace topped it off for a casual everyday look.
Zinsli, who works at the Center of Innovation, was nominated for street style by her co-worker Celia Rosencrans.

Zinsli’s style confidence comes from studying art. She developed a love for lines, colors, shapes and patterns, which is now reflected in her style. She channels style celeb Zooey Deschanel with funky, yet practical looks, often donning tights, a skirt and sweater.
- How would you describe your every day style?
“Pretty simple, straightforward, but yet maybe a little bit surprising to some people... I kind of jazz up stuff.”
- Where do you typically shop?
“I do love Gap. For dress clothes, The Limited has some nice stuff. Express… My favorite go-to place is ModCloth online. It’s more unique, and they kind of have a retro feel but also vintage.”
- How do you accessorize?
“Maybe one or two things put together… I definitely have a couple go-to necklaces… it all depends on the mood. Sometimes, I feel like wearing a certain pair of shoes, and I’ll build an outfit around those shoes… it just depends.”
- What’s your signature piece or color?
“Probably tans and browns… I don’t own anything black. I love the monochromatic tan, cream, whites, those colors. I don’t really do black.”
- What are you currently craving?
“I want a really cute tan trench coat with the big buttons that go down with a little sash… that’s kind of what I have my eyes on for now.”
