Remember that scene in the movie "About a Boy" when the main character, Will, goes on a date with Marcus' mom and she wears that terrible hairy sweater? In case you didn't see it, Will sums it up when he calls it a "yeti costume." My nails wore that sweater in pale pink recently when I tried Sally Hansen's Fuzzy Nail Color.

Yikes!

Don't get me wrong, I love Sally Hansen products. Their coral pink polish is my go-to when I need a pick-me-up.

But, for me, this product was not a winner.

Not only did it take seven coats to get a good cover, my nails felt like sandpaper all day. When the whole mess peeled off within 24 hours, I was relieved.

Online reviews said the polish was hard to remove, so I used a clear base coat. That plus the weight of the seven layers of thick polish was too much to last.

I'm not complaining about the lack of durability. I was glad to be done looking like I was turning into a pink yeti fingers first.

If you, like me, found yourself too curious to resist picking up a bottle and now have 90 percent of it left to mock you, my next idea is to do a thin coat or two over white polish and see if it looks less terrifying. But I'm keeping my expectations low.

If you haven't taken the bait, although it's less than $6 at Target, this product is one I would recommend skipping.
