At any given time, I’ve got a baker’s dozen of hand lotions in my purse of varying scents and sizes. When it comes to moisturizer, there’s just no other product that can be beat to cure so many ailments - dry hands and feet, chapped lips and winter-bitten cheeks, to name a few.

But my favorite soothing product in my heavily-weighted purse is the OPI Avoplex High-Intensity Hand and Nail Cream. After receiving the product in a gift bag, I immediately opened the lotion and fell into a dreamlike state.

The scent is fresh, infused with cocoa, avocado and almond oils, bringing my mind to another place where the oversized hat I’m wearing moves with the breeze and the waves waft in the cool Atlantic Ocean air. And I get that visual every time I use the product, even when it’s actually 60-below and snowing.

Applying the moisturizer to hands, the lightweight and slightly thick cream is instantly hydrating and non-greasy, softening and invigorating cuticles as it’s massaged into the skin.

Repeated use of this buttery-textured penetrating hydrating cream creates soft, happy skin and makes nails healthy and smooth.

The packaging comes as a problem and a blessing. The tube is long and narrow, making it perfect for finding in a sea of other bottles in a large purse, but also too big for smaller bags and purses. Unfortunately, the product only comes in 4 ounces, much to the dismay of its loyal users who would enjoy a larger quantity and a travel-size option.

But for an inexpensive momentary trip to Nantucket, this lotion trumps so many others that are greasy, thin or ineffective. If it weren’t for the fact that I enjoyed a variety of scents and used only my unnecessarily large purse, this would be the one and only hand cream for me.
