Polk County is challenging residents to exercise more with a 45-day Walk Polk County program starting Saturday, the county said.

Participants won't literally have to walk around the county. Instead, they'll get a tracking sheet in the shape of a map of the county. For every 10 minutes of exercise, which can be anything from walking to swimming to gardening, they check off a part of the map. Each map is equivalent to five hours of activity.

A prize drawing will be held every two weeks during the challenge. Return completed maps by email, fax or mail or by dropping them off at Polk County Public Health in East Grand Forks, Crookston and McIntosh. Info: Tammy Conn, (218) 281-3385, tconn@co.polk.mn.us , type "WPC" in the subject line.
