He asked, "How old are you, ma'am?"
I lied and said, "Seventy six and a half."
He paused.
He was one of those people who are so pesky on the telephone. The whole call started with a recorded women's voice telling me they would help lower my interest rate on Visa and Mastercard. It was the third pesky call of the day.
The woman went on and on and asked if I had any credit cards. Eventually, she transferred me, and I was talking to a man who promised to get me a zero percent interest rate. On one card I do not even have.

I kept interrupting and asking him questions. I asked him what he likes to buy. We visited. He told me he lives in Atlanta. I kept interrupting with more personal questions to him.
We talked about the weather. He told me he realizes these calls he makes are very disturbing.
He apologized. He said he was sorry. Before he hung up, he said, "God bless you."
Dippin' dots, cheese tostadas
And life goes on in the dead of winter. Students are back in classes at UND. Mother Nature had one of her winter temper tantrums Wednesday night. Now crews are out cleaning the streets. And the UND hockey team is ready to roll. Their guest this weekend is high-flying St. Cloud State. There will be a luncheon gathering of UND sports fans to whoop it up Friday at the Alerus Center.
And you wonder-what are they eating at hockey games in The Ralph this winter?
Word from The Ralph shows that Dippin' Dots Ice Cream and Red Pepper cheese tostadas are top sellers.
Among the most unique concessions items are hand-carved prime rib, turkey or pork sandwiches.

Some hockey fans find macaroni and cheese and housemade funnel cakes. You just never know what fans are eating. But you can be sure it's anything from pretzels to cheese curds.
Today there will be Swedish meatballs along with a fall harvest salad when UND fans gather for lunch at the Alerus Center. Speakers include Brad Berry, UND hockey coach; and Brett Larson, St. Cloud State hockey coach. Emcee will be Brady Trenbeath, UND football alum.
