The Menoken Farm Garden Tour, a program on how to make healthy garden soil, will be livestreamed Thursday, June 25, by the Burleigh County Soil Conservation District.
The program will feature speaker Jon Stika, author of the book, “A Soil Owner’s Manual: How to Restore and Maintain Soil Health.”
The livestream link will be available on the homepage of the Menoken Farm website at www.menokenfarm.com.
The program takes place at the Menoken Farm, Burleigh County Soil Conservation District’s conversation demonstration farm east of Bismarck.
The “Walk of Life,” a tour of the Menoken Farm, is planned for 3 to 5 p.m.
The main educational event, a garden tour, is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will feature the topics of making garden soil healthy, compost, milpa (planting corn, beans, squash and other vegetables together) and high tunnel production.
Both events will be livestreamed.
The presentations also will be videotaped and posted on the Menoken Farm website following the event.
Stika, of Dickinson, N.D., has lifelong experience as a farmer, dairyman, integrated pest management specialist, gardener, soil scientist, agronomist, cartographer, horticulturist and soil health instructor.
