GRAND FORKS - An area clinic is doing their part to raise awareness for HIV.
Saturday, Dec. 1, was World AIDS Day, so on Monday, Valley Health offered free HIV tests. The North Dakota Department of Health said in the past five years, North Dakota has seen a 73 percent increase in new HIV infections.
The Department of Health also said more than 400 people in North Dakota are living with HIV and AIDS.
"I think people don't know their risks associated with HIV, they just assume that they don't have it," said Valley Health Executive Director Laura Spicer. "But how do you know you don't have it if you've never been tested for it?"
If you didn't make it to Valley Health on Saturday, but you'd still like the free testing, you can give them a call and they'll set you up with a free test.
