One of Grand Forks' oldest charities reached its $18,000 goal for the holiday season.
Santa Claus Girls has raised $18,040 in cash in addition to receiving other donations, such as handmade scarves and gloves, said Anita Geffre, the newspaper's finance director who spearheads the effort.
"I think we're going to do much better than we thought," she said.
Founded in 1916, the charity each year provides toys for needy children that are paid for by public donations. Employees and nonemployees volunteer for the annual campaign.
