Since its opening in South Grand Forks in 1969, the Ground Round restaurant has become one of the most popular in the Grand Forks area. It draws a variety of customers of all ages for lunch, dinner and evening snacking with its varied menu.
The full menu delivery is available daily between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. The restaurant reaches out into the area with its full menu delivery.
A variety of diners choose from the extensive menu. And Chinese Chef Gam Wong joins the crew on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. He has a strong following for his 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. serving of specials such as egg foo yung.
The menu is easy to read. It features soups, including chicken tortilla and French onion. There are salads, including a Texas Tangler with greens, grilled chicken, black bean corn salsa along with cheeses all drizzled in the Ground Round hickory barbecue sauce and ranch dressing.
The menu is diversified to serve the diverse groups of people who regularly find their way into the large parking lot and choose a spot in the variety of wide open seating.
Sandwiches that make a meal are featured in a section of hand held items on the menu. The include a New York style Reuben sandwich on grilled marbled rye bread for $12.39.
There are six different salads that make a meal for some customers. The choices include a cranberry pecan chicken salad, a cobb salad and a chicken club.
Then for those who prefer a full meal there are entrees including ribeye, sirloin and shrimp and St. Louis smoked barbecued ribs.
The menu includes pasta, TexMex choices and jambalaya.
Along with its menu full of creativity, the Ground Round offers a variety of seating choices. Some customers prefer the bar and lounge area. Others turn to the left for more formal seating. Or they go beyond to the new area that stretches to the feeling of out doors. There is a meeting room where some customers linger to play cards. Bridge clubs meet in the fall and winter.
Rest rooms rate at least a B for cleanliness and convenience.
