GF woman to form community church choir
GRAND FORKS -- Amanda Presteng is organizing a community church choir for Greater Grand Forks this summer, with rehearsals and a concert to be held in June and July. Everyone is welcome.
Last year, the choir had about 40 singers from 12 congregations, and Presteng hopes for more this summer. Rehearsals will be at 7 p.m., June 8, 22 and 29 and July 6 in Faith Evangelical Free Church, 2400 14th Ave. S.

Missionary to Liberia to speak in GF church
GRAND FORKS -- Alvina Federwitz, who spent 39 years with Lutheran Bible Translators in Liberia with her late husband, the Rev. Dale Federwitz, will speak at 10 a.m. Sunday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St. She also will speak at Sunday school at 9 a.m. A potluck follows the service. Everyone is welcome.

Church brings in Lutheran Core leader

Annual Bible Bee promises big bucks
BREMEN, Ind. -- The buzz is that the second annual National Bible Bee offers more than $260,000 in prize money to young students who know their Bible facts and verses memorized. Register online at www.biblebee.org . The idea is hold local bees Aug. 28 for youth 7 to 18 in three divisions; the national contest is Nov. 11-13 in Schaumburg, Ill.
Last year, 17,000 youth competed in 349 local Bees. The 2009 winner in the senior division won $100,000.
