Fajitas, tacos, burritos, chimichanga and chalupas. The menu is the same, but times are different for Paradiso – as well as other restaurants – in these days of the coronavirus plague.
Paradiso is one of the largest restaurants in Grand Forks and one of five in North Dakota. Managers say that takeout orders amount to about a third of their business in these times with restrictions.
Inside Paradiso, there is seating to accommodate for 300 in three main areas. With current regulations, the restaurant can handle inside only 25%of its capacity at any given time. For Paradiso, that means only 75 to 100 people. These days, the seating is scattered to fulfill requirements created by coronavirus restrictions. While many customers prefer takeout or deliveries, others are seated at tables or in booths to meet restrictions.
Kai Anderson, an assistant manager, said luncheon specials bring customers in during the week. The restaurant designates bargains on Burrito Mondays and Take Out Tuesdays.
The large menu features appetizers, including jumbo buffalo wings and a Margarita chicken flatbread. There are chicken and beef fajitas. And a choice of salads, including one called Mango Santa.

There are combinations and specialty choices for burritos, tacos and enchiladas. The menu also includes a vegetarian section along with choices from the grill, including chicken breast.
There are eight choices of seafood, including wild Alaskan glazed salmon and a super seafood taco.
Three desserts are listed under a section described as sweet endings. One is fried ice cream, which is rolled in a sweet coating and deep fried. There are puffed pillows of sweet dough called sopapilla. And there is flan, which is described as a creamy custard glazed in caramel.
Paradiso is a large, attractive restaurant on South Washington Street. And it offers parking in two adjacent lots. There is attractive landscaping on the premises.
In these times, managers say one-third of the business is delivered by services such as Food Dudes and Uber Eats. Many customers prefer to call in orders then pick them up.
