Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., announced Thursday that SkyWest Airlines, flying for United Airlines, will restore a longstanding early morning flight schedule from Devils Lake and Jamestown to Denver starting June 1.

The flight will depart from Devils Lake at 5 a.m. and Jamestown at 6:30 a.m., according to a release from the senator's office.

"The early morning flight was the most popular for travelers from Jamestown and Devils Lake because it opened up greater opportunities for connecting flights in Denver," Hoeven said in the release.

Hoeven said he pursued getting these flights restored because it meant decreased boardings at the local airports. These flights will help the local airports continue to meet the number of boardings required to receive Airport Improvement Program grant funds.

"Without this flight option, residents of these communities would have faced significantly longer travel times," Hoeven said.

Flights will be available for booking starting April 13.
