Downtown Fashion Night is back.

After a sold out fashion show in January 2013, the women of the Good Girls Club are preparing for another night of fashion and fun Jan. 28 in downtown Grand Forks.

Last year, the event raised nearly $9,000 for Altru's Infant Bereavement Program. This year, 100 percent of the ticket sales will go toward Camp Good Morning, a three-day camp for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

"Downtown businesses have really come together to support Downtown Fashion Night, with the models, the hair, we've got a dance performance and all of the samplings from the restaurants -- all of that is because the downtown businesses have chosen to give to the cause," said Mary Fox, president of the club.

She added that other downtown businesses and organizations like the law offices and Downtown Development Association also have given to the event in the form of time and funding.

"There's so many people who are giving of their time from Sioux hockey players to the businesses, to the restaurants, to the people modeling in the show, to the entertainment," she said. "It's a real amazing collaboration of people in Grand Forks that just want to do something helpful for someone else."

The night will be broken into two segments: a social hour of cocktails and samplings from downtown restaurants, and a fashion show featuring downtown boutiques. The event will begin between Sadie's Floral and Event Styling and the new Kittson location at 402 DeMers Ave., and end at The Empire Arts Center for the fashion show.

Volunteer models will have their hair and makeup done by participating salons before taking the runway in all the latest fashions in Grand Forks.

"They come out with several different looks, and it's really exciting to see what they feel is on trend for this year and to see what their stores offer," Fox said. "We just think it's a really unique way to highlight the downtown businesses while also benefitting a fantastic local charity, a very deserving charity."

Fox added that the event falls right in line with the club's mission to give back to the community they live in.

Tickets for Downtown Fashion Night can be purchased for $30 at RH Standard, Adley Annes, Olivieri's Salons and Spa, True Colors Consignment, both Avant Hair and Skin Care Studio locations and both Truyu Aesthetic Center locations.

Fox recommends purchasing tickets early because she said they expect to sell out before the night of the event.
