Elastic headband

DIRECTIONS

1. If your shirt is larger in size: Cut the bottom hem of the T-shirt and discard. Working from the bottom upward, cut three 2-inch strips. If your shirt is smaller and has no side stiching, make a horizontal cut of three 2-inch strips. (The width of your strips can vary -- depending on how you want your headband to look -- from 1¼ to 4 inches. Avoid cutting thinner than 1 inch, as the strips will be harder to work with later.)

2. Trim each strip of fabric to the same length.

3. Place strips one on top of the other. Working on the ends, add a dab of hot glue or fabric glue to the top of the bottom strip. Press down to secure bottom and middle strip. Repeat step for middle and top strip. Allow 10 minutes to dry. Ensure strips are securely pasted before starting next step.

4. Braid strips. When you reach the end of the braid, secure edges with hot glue or fabric glue.

5. Cut a 2- to 4-inch strip of elastic (depending on the size of your head).

6. Glue elastic to the ends of your braided headband. (Optional: If you want to hide the elastic, cut a small piece of fabric from your T-shirt. Wrap it around the elastic and secure with glue.
