ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- A suburban Minneapolis clinic was flooded by so many calls about the swine flu vaccine that it had to shut down its flu-shot appointment line.
Park Nicollet Clinic was swamped by 120,000 calls in four hours Monday morning after announcing over the weekend that it had a shipment of the H1N1 vaccine.
Callers trying to make appointments overwhelmed Park Nicollet's phone system. A clinic spokesman says most callers were unable to get through.
Park Nicollet is now asking patients to request flu-shot appointments by e-mail.
For now, the clinic will give vaccine only to patients at highest risk for swine flu. Park Nicollet plans to offer the vaccine to other groups later when more supplies arrive.
