It's Christmastime again, and there's nothing like music and festive activities to put you and your family in the holiday mood.
Here are a few local events that are sure to brighten up your season:
The Grand Forks Master Chorale presents the Messiah Sing-Along at 8 p.m. today in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 524 N. Fifth St., Grand Forks. The event features the Master and Community chorales and "anyone else who would like to sing along," said Dean Jilek, artistic director. The Dickinson, N.D., native is UND's director of choirs.
"It's a community-welcome event for anyone who desires to sing-it doesn't matter how good you are-with the Chorale and an orchestra," he said. "It's a festive time to sing."
Jilek recently moved to Grand Forks, with his wife and three children, after earning a doctorate at the University of North Texas.
Tickets are $15 per person or $5 for students and military. A $20 holiday season pass admits one to tonight's performance and the "Coming Home: A Christmas Concert by the Grand Forks Master Chorale" on Dec. 16 in St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Suggested admission is one nonperishable food item or new toy per person.

Holiday LEGO open house
Explore the creative world of LEGOs on Saturday at HB Sound & Light in Grand Forks. You'll see LEGO models of downtown landmarks, such as Widman's Candy and the "polka dot house," and an imaginary shopping mall built by locals who love LEGOs.
The fun includes scavenger hunts for kids and adults, and cookies and hot cider for everyone.
The company's second LEGO holiday display open house runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 17.
LEGO fanatics from Manitoba plan to bring a model of the USS Enterprise, from the "Star Trek" TV series, to display at the event Saturday.
Build your own LEGO creation on site to enter in a Facebook contest in which the entrant with the most Facebook votes wins a large LEGO box set.
Last year's event drew 2,000 visitors, said Brian Lofthus, event coordinator. "It's chaotic and crazy, but it's fun."
HB Sound & Light is at 101 N. Eighth St., Grand Forks.
