The UND Bookstore will have a grand opening celebration Friday through Aug. 23 entertainment plus book signings by authors such as Janie Franz and Ron Vossler of Grand Forks and UND graduate Chuck Klosterman..

The renovation of UND Bookstore was a joint project between UND and Follett Higher Education Group, the organization that assumed bookstore operations from Barnes & Noble, a news release said.

The new bookstore has more than 32,000 square feet of retail and office space with wider aisles and a greater selection of merchandise. The bookstore also features the Tower Cafe serving Caribou Coffee and Apple computers and products.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Friday with Jay Zalewski, group vice president of sales and operations for Follett Higher Education Group, as master of ceremonies. He will be joined by UND President Robert Kelley. The schedule of events:

The UND Bookstore, the official bookstore of UND, is at 775 Hamline St. Regular store hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
