Last fall, David and Amy Jo Paukert staged their original musical comedy, "Turn-up Your Radio," in Michigan, N.D. Written as a 1959 live-studio radio broadcast by the fun-loving, quirky citizens of Turnup, Texas, the show was a success.

Now, the Paukerts are bringing "Turn-up Your Radio" to Grand Forks, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Fire Hall Theatre.

"We produced this show this past October as a part of our anniversary celebration for the Heritage Arts Gallery in Michigan, N.D.," Amy Jo Paukert said in a news release. "The response was so positive that we decided to bring it to Grand Forks for a second showing."

The Paukerts for years have produced, directed and performed in shows at Frost Fire Theatre in Walhalla, N.D. They put together a cast of area singers, actors and musicians, many of them veterans of the Frost Fire stage and/or community theater in Langdon, N.D., and Grand Forks.

In "Turn-up Your Radio," written by David Paukert, the live radio broadcast is being presented as part of the 14th annual Turnup Days Festival in Turnup, Texas. The show is a mash-up of public radio's "A Prairie Home Companion" hosted by Garrison Keillor and "Hee-Haw," the long running television show set in "Kornfield Kounty" and hosted by Buck Owens and Roy Clark. The music of "Turn-up Your Radio" features well-known early country, swing and gospel tunes, a news release said.
