"Night Castle," the latest release from Trans-Siberian Orchestra and its second non-holiday album after 2000's "Beethoven's Last Night," is scheduled for release Oct. 27, about two weeks before Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform in Grand Forks.
In "Night Castle," TSO founder Paul O'Neill and crew have given fans 26 songs that run the gamut from hard rock to classical, a news release said. It described the new CD as a "rock opera (that) takes you through different points of history detailing the triumphs and follies of man but ultimately this is an epic story of transformation and love."
Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
The two-CD "Night Castle" set will include a 68-page booklet featuring story, lyrics and full-color illustrations by artist Greg Hildebrandt.
O'Neill said the album release originally was planned for "a few years ago."

"But we were dedicated to making something really special, and the longer it took, the more pressure we felt to give people the best possible piece of art we could," he said in a news release.
The "Night Castle" release will be preceded by the first single, "Nutrocker," which ships to multiformat radio outlets nationwide later this month. The track is homage to one of TSO's greatest influences, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and features rock artist Greg Lake on bass.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra's tour opens Nov. 1 and runs through early January. TSO has sales in excess of 7 million, including nearly 2 million CDs and DVDs sold in the past two years, a news release said.
Its releases include "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" (1996), "The Christmas Attic" (1998) and "The Lost Christmas Eve" (2004), and the 2001 DVD "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve."
