Friday and Saturday at Fire Hall: Just in time for Valentine's Day, Eve Ensler's powerful "Vagina Monologues," a series of staged readings about women, politics, sexuality and sexual violence, will be presented at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Fire Hall Theatre, Grand Forks. Tickets will be $10 at the door and all proceeds will benefit Community Violence Intervention Center and Valley Health.

Hoedown

Still on for Saturday: North Country Fiddle and Dance's hoedown set for 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Whitey's in East Grand Forks will go on as scheduled despite Whitey's closing this week. The hoedown, featuring live fiddle and banjo music, will be in the Whitey's Cafe banquet room (downstairs), East Grand Forks. This event is for singles, couples and families, featuring reels, squares, circle mixers and more. Admission: Donations at the door.

Friday and Saturday in Thief River Falls: Thief River Falls Community Arts Council will hold auditions for two summer theater productions from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Northland College theater in Thief River Falls. "The Producers": Co-directors Jane Anderson and Rob Burkel are looking for more than 20 older teens and adults for this musical written by Mel Brooks. Those auditioning will sing a selection of choice, preferably a Broadway show tune. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Rob Burkel will play one of the lead roles (Max) but all other parts will be cast. Performance dates for "The Producers" will be June 22-25 and June 27-29. Lutheran ladies

Saturday in Grand Forks: Those funny, heartwarming Lutheran church ladies are returning to Grand Forks. "A Second Helping: The Church Basement Ladies Sequel" will be on stage at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at UND Chester Fritz Auditorium. This time around, it's 1969. Folks are protesting the Vietnam War and women are demanding equal pay for equal work and the Lutheran church basement ladies of small-town rural Minnesota are dealing with changes of their own. Sweetheart dinner

Tickets for Saturday event: You can make reservations for the Reynolds, N.D., Valentine's Day Sweetheart Dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Reynolds KC Hall. The meal will feature an appetizer, soup, salad, your choice of entire (prime rib, New York strip, sirloin tips, chicken béarnaise, shrimp alfredo, chicken alfredo), dessert and a glass of wine. Dru Hill
