Concerts Wednesday, Thursday: The UND Wind Ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday at UND Chester Fritz Auditorium featuring Gustav Holst's "Second Suite in F" and more. Thursday: The University Band and Pride of the North Basketball Band will present a POPS Concert at 8 p.m. at the UND Memorial Union Ballroom. Poetry
Thursday at GF library: Two events Thursday at the Grand Forks Public Library will help celebrate National Poetry Month. Heidi Czerwiec of the UND English Department will hold a poetry workshop from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday to help participants with ideas to generate new work. The workshop is free but is limited to 25 participants, so those interested should register online at the library's home page. Poetry readings: At 7 p.m. Thursday, there will be a reading featuring poetry students from UND including Xavier Pastrano, Lorenzo Serna, Kayla Alkire and Alex Cavanaugh. Info: (701) 772-8116.
'Madame F'

Thursday at the Empire: "An Evening with Madame F," a one-woman play about a musician who survived Auschwitz, will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday at Empire Arts Center by Claudia Stevens, performer, musician and daughter of Holocaust survivors. The event is being sponsored by UND Center for Human Rights and Genocide Studies, The Student Organization Funding Agency, the Adelphi Literary Society and the Jewish Community Relations Council. Admission: Free.
Grand Cities Idol
Thursday at the Chester Fritz: Grand Cities Idol, a singing competition among students from East Grand Forks Senior High School, Grand Forks Central High School and Grand Forks Red River High School, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at UND Chester Fritz Auditorium. See the top five bands and solo performers from each school compete against each other for prizes and bragging rights. The audience votes for the winner, so bring a pencil. Tickets: Adults, $10; students, $5; available at the door.
Dance concert
Saturday at UND Burtness Theatre: The UND Department of Theatre Arts will present a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at UND Burtness Theatre to showcase choreography created by students in the department's new dance minor program. Firemen's Ball
Saturday in Warren, Minn.: The Warren Volunteer Fire Department will host its 119th annual Firemen's Ball and Smorgasbord from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Warren American Legion with music by Kenny and the Classics from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets: Adults, $8; children 12 and younger, $4.
