Tuesday at Schroeder Middle School: The Grand Forks Schroeder Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade band, jazz band and chorus will present a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Schroeder gym. Admission: Free.

Friday in Grand Forks: The 2010 Piano Guild Auditions will from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St., with performances by students from the Grand Forks and Park River, N.D., areas. Students of Gloria Bethke and Sheryl Kjelland will perform programs of six to 15 memorized pieces and musicianship phases. Adjudicator: Sharon Wesbrook, Detroit Lakes, Minn., a 20-year member of and judge for the Piano Guild, has a master's degree in piano pedagogy. She has a private piano studio and is the North Dakota Music Competitions chairwoman for NDMTA. The Junior Composers chairwoman, she serves on the Junior Composers Institute Board of Directors, is national chairwoman for sacred music and national chairwoman for international music relations in National Federation of Music Clubs.
'Plaid' in Pekin

May 29 in Pekin, N.D.: Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre and the Nelson County Arts Council will present the musical comedy "Forever Plaid" at 8 p.m. May 29 in the Pekin City Auditorium. This charming hit takes the audience on a trip to Fiftiesville with Sparky, Jinx, Smudge and Frankie, a fictional 1950s boy band. "Forever Palid" features some of the greatest '50s hits in close four-part harmony, among them "Three Coins in the Fountain" and "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing." Cast: Joel Braxton, Ken McGurran, Cody Oss, Alex Sidles. Music: Marlys Murphy. Tickets: Adults, $12; students, $8. Steak: The Pekin Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Steak Fry in the Peek-In Pub starting at 6 p.m. with inside and outside seating.
Folk Art
Opening June 5 in Grand Forks: "The Scandinavian Mid-Summer Folk Art Tile Project," assembled in collaboration with Gayle Oran, Susanne Toftey and the Society of Decorative Painters, will run June 5 through July 13 at Velkommen, downtown Grand Forks.
