Michael Marcotte
An opera performance: Grand Forks native Michael Marcotte was part of the cast of a New York City Opera VOX showcase performance of Stephen Schwartz's opera "Seance on a Wet Afternoon" presented Friday, according to Playbill online. "Seance," which is aiming for a world premiere at Opera Santa Barbara in the fall, centers on a psychic and her husband who kidnap a young girl so they can "find her" and become famous. Based on the novel by Mark McShane and screenplay by Bryan Forbes, the opera features a score and libretto by Academy Award-winning and Tony-nominated composer Schwartz ("Wicked," "Pippin," "Godspell.") Marcotte played the Irish tenor in the piece; he graduated from Central High School in 1997.
